This game is set on the morning of June 6th and sees a German platoon advancing toward Utah beach. The Germans want to seize the culvert over a minor river, ready for their Panzers to advance on the beachhead (when Hitler gives the order!!). A US Paratroop Platoon is holding the culvert and a Regular German Platoon is advancing.
This shows the jump off points after the patrol phase. Note that there is a jump off point in the northern farmhouse.
The Germans deployed a section in the north, under a pre-game barrage, hoping to shut down any deployment from the farmhouse. Unfortunately Mal has little luck with barrages and the Yanks manage to deploy a section in trenches.
The Yanks opened up, causing casualties and the Germans tried to find cover behind the hedge but some bad dice meant that the MG team failed to find cover. This was the start of some poor dice rolling on the part of the Germans. The senior leader attached to the section was hit but luckily Mal had a medic to hand.
The Yank fire was very effective, breaking the MG team, with the Germans bringing up a MkIV in support.
The tank commander looked out and was confused as he couldn't see the infantry he was tasked to support.
The panzer manoeuved into the field and soon found their fallen comrades. Meanwhile the second section, that had deployed in the woods, moved to try and outflank the Yanks.
The panzer now moved out of the field and started its advance down the road...
whilst the 60mm mortar opened up on the Germans in the wood next to the tank. The last German section continued its advance through the woods to the south hoping to take the culvert.
However, as they exited the woods they ran into a hail of fire from the second Yank section that had deployed in the wood to the south of the culvert.
With many leader casualties and the loss of one complete section the German morale failed, with the Yanks taking the game just as the bazooka team were getting ready to ambush the panzer.
